Lore & Background

Set two months after the events of Persona 4, the Investigation Team is drawn into the P-1 Grand Prix, a tournament hosted by a puppet called General Teddie, created by Labrys' Shadow. The group finds themselves separated upon entering the TV World, with each member trapped in labyrinths reflecting their psyche or past memories. Kanji is pulled into the TV World with the others, and his initial belief that it's a dream is not canonical. The team must navigate these challenges while uncovering the truth behind the missing Rise and Teddie, as well as Naoto's presence at the initial gathering at Junes, where she is pulled into the TV World with the others. Their journey involves confronting an unknown entity that tricks fighters into believing it is their Shadows, and they learn earlier in the story that their Personas can be forced to revert to Shadows.

In Their Own Story

As Yu Narukami returned to Inaba for Golden Week, he witnessed a commercial on the Midnight Channel for the P-1 Grand Prix. With friends Rise, Kanji, and Teddie missing, and Naoto absent, the remaining members reassembled to search for answers. Upon entering the TV World the following day, they were separated and stuck in places resembling Yasogami High School. They encountered a mysterious girl without a Persona claiming to be the student council president, later revealed to be Labrys. The team fought alongside or against the Shadow Operatives, learning that General Teddie was actually Labrys' Shadow in disguise. After defeating all opponents, they faced a mastermind who manipulated events to weaken them mentally, causing their Personas to revert to Shadows.

Reader's Guide

The Investigation Team operates within the TV World and Inaba's rural town during the P-1 Grand Prix. Players can take control of seven core members: Yu Narukami, Yosuke Hanamura, Chie Satonaka, Yukiko Amagi, Kanji Tatsumi, Rise Kujikawa, and Naoto Shirogane. The group's objective is to solve the mystery behind the tournament and rescue their missing friends. Gameplay involves fighting through visual novel segments and three-round ranked fights in Arcade mode. To unlock more character campaigns, players must complete initial four campaigns. Key mechanics include using Personas for assistance, managing SP Gauges, and entering an Awakening State when life is low to refill resources.
